Crusty Cup finals wrap-up

Posted on March 20, 2012

Jacko, Potter, and Truman Carroll took a visit to Melbourne Australia, for the Formula 1 Grand Prix all competing for the $50,000 prize along with the champion title of the Crusty Demons Cup.

The cup ran over a four day schedule. The first two days, Thursday and Friday were just FMX demos which gave the boys plenty of time to practice for Sunday nights competition which left Saturday for qualifying. Up first was ‘Best Whip’ qualifying with whip king himself, Todd Potter, followed by Truman and Pages all making the cut.

Next up was ‘Best Combo’ and the top three finished with Jacko, Truman, and McFerran. Finally there was only qualifying left for ‘Big Air’ and there were five spots. Since Jacko and Potter put on a display of incredible tricks all night, a lot of the other riders knew they didn’t have anything even close to match them, so qualifying was not needed at all.

After three days of windy demos and qualifying sessions the big night finally came and all the riders where ready to raise the bar for the cash prize! Unfortunately, the weather kicked in with some strong inconsistent wind gusts and a massive head wind.

The riders decided to at least put on some kind of show for the 8,000 plus fans! First up was ‘Best Whip’ with Potter claiming 2nd with (90.3) in points, and Truman claiming 3rd with a score of (80.6). With the wind not holding him back, Jacko took out ‘Best Combo’ pulling off a huge Ruler-Indy to Side Saddle Lander scoring a solid (90) in points with Truman finishing off this Best Combo run in 3rd with a score of (79).

The inconsistent wind gusts started to pickup even more and it was time to kick off the line up for ‘Best Trick‘ with Loza, Pages, Potter and Jacko. Shit was looking to sketchy and they all made the hard call together deciding it was just to dangerous to go for it. So to everyone’s disappointment riders, organizers, track crew and fans, the comp was cancelled with all prize money ($50,000) split to all ‘Best Trick’ riders.

Looks like Jacko will have to put his never before seen trick the ‘Bullet Proof Tiger‘ to rest and save it for another event to show the world.
